We love talking with real small church pastors on this podcast. Learning from the experiences of others who are "in the trenches" is what this podcast is all about, and we were very excited when we got the chance to talk to Mark Young about his long ministry career and what he's learned about authenticity throughout his time as a pastor.
Mark has a unique story and he shares with us about the hardest time of his life when he found himself not only transitioning ministries, but also going through another transition in life that he could never have prepared for. But through that hardship, Mark has learned about the power of vulnerability in ministry and has developed a heart for folks who are often overlooked in our congregations. Mark is the pastor of First Christian Church in Newton Iowa and has served churches in Mason City, Iowa; Lewis, Iowa; Clarion, Iowa and Clear Lake, Iowa. While serving in ministry Mark has also been chaplain at Fountain Lake Treatment Centers, Hospice of Wright County, I-35 Speedway, Iowa Speedway Skiff Hospice, then Mercy Hospice. We know you'll enjoy listening and learning from Mark as much as we did in the studio with him! 12/21/2017 10:44:52 am
LOVE this episode! Of course, Mark is my brother - literally - and his wisdom and experience comes through loud and clear in this episode. I am so proud of him and how he is willing to tell the hard stuff of life so that others will be willing to open up and share their hard places. 1/10/2018 01:26:49 am
I look forward to talking to Mark. Life is a journey, and the people who trek in the long journey seek the true meaning of life with the unswerving pace of themselves. Comments are closed.
