Jeff and Jonny had a great time talking with Scot McKnight about God's design for the church and how the church relates to their community and world! We hope you enjoy this episode, and if you are a real man or woman... you can check out the video below - it's a great one!
We really do need all kinds of churches to reach all kinds of people! That's why each of our churches should be uniquely designed for our cultural and community context. There is no "one right way" to do church, and here are 4 reasons why...
Thanks for listening, and enjoy!
What a great time we had with Dr. David Fitch, from Northern Seminary in Chicago, and Peace of Christ Church in Westmont, Illinois! David is fun, and quite intellectual - a great combination. We spoke about a course he will be teaching by the same title of this episode, and it was an awesome conversation.
This is probably an episode you'll want to listen to twice (at least our conversation with Fitch) because it is so dense. I (Jeff) heard a whole bunch that I never picked up when we actually recorded it. Fitch talks about bringing the Gospel to the culture, through the church, and the Holy Spirit. He talks about the relationship between the Trinity and Mission and how the church discerns what God is already doing in the community and then joins Him in it, calling the community to the Lordship of Jesus Christ - which is the Gospel. So much great content in this episode. Jonny and I are so happy to share this with you, as we bring you right into our conversation with David Fitch. May you be as encouraged as we were! Check out episode 145 for more links to David's stuff online! Below are a few about what he is doing at Northern Seminary... Also, check out David Fitch and Geoff Holsclaw's great podcast - THEOLOGY ON MISSION! Here is a great post by David on the Northern Seminary site titled: The Pastor-Theologian in a Different Light.
A Classic Jeff & Jonny episode about 4 things people want their pastors to know. This is a vintage small church ministry conversation that you will resonate with if you pastor a church 200 or under! This is a super encouraging episode with material to lift you up and challenge you at the same time.
Recently I listened to a ministry podcast for pastors, and the host introduced the guest, a capable pastor on board to encourage the listeners... with a church of 13,000! THIS PODCAST, The 200churches Podcast, is designed to provide ministry encouragement to pastors of smaller churches. We can learn from other pastors, but it's harder to receive practical and encouraging content from a pastor who has a church that is 100X bigger than yours! I'm sorry, but let's just be honest - it is. Therefore, today we talk about: 1. how people feel around pastors 2. why most people really come to church 3. the impact of your sermon, and finally... 4. the challenge people face when committing to ministry in your 200church Enjoy! We love you! Thanks for pastoring the people in your church and co-shepherding them with Jesus. Next week: David Fitch from The Theology On Mission Podcast and Northern Seminary in Chicago! His last episode with us is RIGHT HERE. |
