Our good friend Jeremiah Hollis, from Australia via New Mexico - joins us on episode 171 to talk all about worship ministry in the small church. Jeremiah and his wife Rachel travel the country ministering to many small churches, youth groups, and worship teams as they take a message of encouragement and servanthood along the way.
Jeremiah talks with Jeff in this episode about his experiences serving in many churches in the area of worship ministry, and offers some great insight and advice for small church worship leaders. Jeremiah came to our church, and led a worship time with our small youth group, as though he were with 3,000 kids! He loved our kids, unplugged and just sat and talked with them, told them the stories of his songs, and had them joining in to sing, and yes, even DANCE! It was a phenomenal evening for our students! No worries! In this episode we talk with Silas about easy things like doubt, faith, politics, culture, pastoral leadership, a theology of disagreement, etc.
This is a very timely episode as us pastors are wrestling with how to lead our families of faith in some pretty crazy cultural times! Jonny and I LOVED our conversation with Silas. He has a Ph.D. not just because he is smart, but because he's also persistent and passionate to see the Gospel change the world. This might be our longest episode ever! Listen to it in three sittings, and then listen to it again - the second time is when you learn all the best stuff! Enjoy! You can learn all about Silas on his website here!
Today we talk with Pastor and Church Leadership Coach, John Finkelde, from Perth, Australia. John wrote a book called Preaching In A Whatever World, that contains 21 Preaching Tips for pastors. We dive deep into just a couple of those tips in this episode, and talk about the changing nature of preaching in our changing world.
Enjoy this conversation with our vibrant and cheerful mate, John! John and his wife Di are coaching and supporting pastors and churches all across the Australian continent. John is the creator of GrowAHealthyChurch.com. Click on the image below to visit John's website!
Di Finkelde is the Creator of ConversationsWithAPastorsWife.com. She blogs regularly and has recently released her second book, In Her Shoes, a book about a famous OT woman, Esther! Click on the image below to go to Di's website!

Zach Bauer contacted us to just connect, and build a relationship! He is about 75 minutes away, but since he found out how close we were, he came to our town - so we gladly bought him lunch.
After lunch I realized what a cool guy Zach is (aren't all church planters required to possess that cool factor?) I asked him to consider coming back in the future to record some episodes with us. Zach came back! Can you imagine? After eating with the likes of Jeff and Jonny, he came back?! In the meantime, I actually acquired a third BOOM MIC, and Zach pulled up to stall #3 in the luxurious and opulent 200churches Podcast studio - and we recorded three episodes together! (now we are ready if YOU ever stop by!) This is just the first one. Loads of fun, but serious stuff, planting a church that will reach a community, and neighborhoods, for Jesus. People need Jesus, right? It's so awesome that young men and women like Zach and his wife are out planting churches, creating something out of nothing! Bringing hope. We know you will be encouraged by the episodes we recorded with Zach. Thanks for serving Jesus right where you are, right in your 200church! God knows. He understands the joys and burdens, and he said, "I am with you always..." Have fun this week and weekend - serving with Jesus. ![]()
Chris Vitarelli is a church planter and pastor in Michigan. He pastors The Road Community Church. His wife Jody is surely the brains and inspiration behind everything Chris does! Most certainly!
Chris is like you and me. He wins on some days, and loses on others. He has to handle both the ups and downs of small church ministry. He pastors one church, with two congregations about 25 miles apart. He used to be really frustrated and discouraged with the pace of growth in his church. He is much less so now. Chris had to work through some unmet expectations he had as a church planter and as a pastor trying to grow his church and reach people for Jesus. While doing so, he realized he wanted to provide a conference to other pastors who are frustrated that their church is not as big as they thought it would be. The conference Chris developed last year, and the one he is planning to pull off for a second year in a row is called the Small Church Big Deal Conference! Perhaps Jeff and Jonny will be there this year, on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Karl Vaters will certainly be there speaking! You can find the conference website by clicking on the image below, but it has not yet been updated for the 2016 event... but it will soon, and we will remind you about it. It's in Michigan, and many of you may want to attend this year. We hope you are encourage, entertained, and challenged by this episode, #167, with Chris Vitarelli! We are sure you will laugh at least a few times! Enjoy! |
