In episode 149, Jonny and Jeff talk about creating meaningful change in our small church contexts. This is a very practical episode, which follows the following outline...
Change is not an event, but a process, and that process is called Leadership. What leading change in a small church looks like:
What change would you like to bring to your small church ministry in 2016? Here is the link to Karl Vaters' blog post that we mention in the intro to this episode - Two Lists: One for a Healthy Church, One for a Big Church - And They Don’t Overlap - This post is a game changer for small church pastors! It's a quick read and Jeff says you really should read this - your ministry will make much more sense to you when you read what Karl says here...
After you have scheduled missionaries to come visit your church and share their ministry with your people, but before they show up, do you know what their needs will be when they arrive? Do you know what types of things will make their visit to your church a success?
Tim the Missionary tells all in this episode, #148! Jeff and Jonny talk about the rationale of a podcast devoted to small church pastors in the intro, then Jeff has a very helpful talk with Tim, then Jeff and Jonny encourage our international listeners to send emails in, while at the same time mocking and poking fun at Carey Nieuwhof's name, as though it's not easy to spell and pronounce... Wow. Carey Nieuwhof will be with us for episode 149, next week, November 25!
Today on Episode 147, Karl "The Shark" Vaters talks to us about his intentional apathy list. What does he purposely not care about anymore? In fact, what succulent church insider issues just no longer interest him?
Sometimes we spend an inordinate amount of time caring for the unimportant. This was a very fun episode to record, and Karl is a great small church practitioner and philosopher - you will be challenged, encouraged, and entertained by this episode! Enjoy!
Jeremiah Hollis stopped by Jeff & Jonny's church in the fall of 2012. He led worship that weekend and brought us all to the very heart of God through his singing and worship. Jeremiah was here to visit a friend in our church, but worked his way into our lives through the sheer force of his personality, and love for God!
Jeremiah also worked his way into the heart of a girl that fall - Rachel, now Rachel Hollis! Soon he will be back in North West Iowa to visit us, and he will be touring around the United States and may even be in your neck of the woods. But we wanted to share him with you, as he talks to us about how to lead and achieve authentic, heartfelt worship in a small church. Jeremiah and Rachel lead a worship team in their church of 75 every Sunday, so they are in the trenches of small church worship ministry along with the rest of us. He has been able to see change and growth in his church, and he joyfully shares his ideas and principles with all of us on this podcast episode. Again, this podcast is our gift to you, our small church pastor friends, each and every Wednesday. Enjoy!
