"Feminism calls women to be like men, but the Bible calls us to be like God!"
Jeff and Jonny met Carolyn Custis James at the Missio Alliance Awakenings Gathering in Alexandria VA. Carolyn is soft spoken, but carries huge content! She has written books like Half the Church: Recapturing God’s Global Vision for Women, and Malestrom: Manhood Swept into the Currents of a Changing World.
She is an author, thinker, teacher, and seminary president's wife. Carolyn thinks deeply about the role and mission of women in the Kingdom of God. She asks, "What is the Bible's message for women?" She thoughtfully answers that question both in her book and on this podcast with the guys. This conversation does not deal so much with the Egalitarian/Complementarian debate - but it is a call to action to mobilize women and girls in the church to look outward and say - How do I mobilize the Gospel to spread the Kingdom around the world? This is just one more of those head scratcher episodes that makes you think, and even question how you've viewed the church in regards to half of it... women! You'll enjoy Carolyn's kind and gentle nature, and her syrupy sweet affirmation of her husband in the outtakes! :-) Carolyn loves Frank!! 6/5/2017 10:28:11 am
Listened today to 2 podcasts, great Info. My husband and myself are church planters of 4 years. So exciting to find this resource. We pastor in Charlotte NC and Host a conference called Shabbach youth conferences of 14 years. God has blessed us but the journey has been tough. Thank you for empowering us. Emily, thanks for the kind words. Pastors, church planters, etc. all need MAJOR ENCOURAGEMENT! That's why we keep producing episodes week after week. Ministry and people work can be extremely draining, and we want to keep pastors, especially of ordinary sized churches, very filled up! Comments are closed.
