Pastor Michael Nations from Clyde, NC joins Jeff and Jonny LIVE in the 200churches Podcast Studio! Michael is the founding director of The Vital Initiative and is making a difference encouraging small church pastors! We have a new friend!
Jeff met Michael at The Big Little Church conference in Portland, OR in April. They realized that Michael would be in the 200churches area of NW Iowa in May, plans were made, a date was set - and Michael arrived! We had a blast with Michael and realized that his story is very similar to ours in his love and advocacy for pastors of small churches. Michael is with the Church of God - Cleveland TN. He is working through The Vital Initiative to make a big difference in the lives and ministries of pastors in over 5000 COG churches with less than 100 members! Michael is a small church pastor making a BIG difference, and he will inspire you as well to believe BIG for what you can do in your context! Below is a video of Michael in a conversation with the General Overseer of the Church of God, Mark Williams... Vital Initiative from ChurchofGod on Vimeo.
Jeff talks with John Finkelde from Grow A Healthy Church as he shares some powerful, essential advice for crafting attention getting, effective sermons! This is a mini seminar on the art of sermon craft!
John coaches pastors in their preaching, and he is available to coach you! Go ahead and send him an email at John@GrowAHealthyChurch.com and ask him about his Sermon Coaching for Pastors! John has over 30 years of ministry experience in Australia - so he brings a different perspective that may be just what you need to take your messages to that "proverbial" next level! :-) Enjoy a fantastic episode with John! AND... Check out the two videos below regarding John's ministry...
In this episode Jeff and Jonny talk about the challenges that small church pastors face - in a culture where growth and success are so valued. It's not easy pastoring a church that is not growing by leaps and bounds, and discouragement is available around every corner.
So the guys try to explain why there is such a thing called 200churches for pastors of small churches, and why pastors actually need the 200churches Podcast. We hope that this episode encourages you in your pastoral ministry in your 200church! This episode was recorded on the very first day that Jonny returned from a 5-week sabbatical following the birth of his son Abram. You can tell he has a lot of pent up energy, as Jeff tries to keep him under control... Enjoy!!
Zach Bauer is a bivocational pastor and church planter and shares some of the pro's and cons of being bivocational while planting a church, and even after the church tops 100! A fun conversation with him LIVE in-studio! Zach is the pastor of Red Door Church in Sioux Falls, SD.
Zach traveled to our town in order to experience the very posh and opulent setting which is the 200churches Podcast Studio. He likened it to the inside of a jail cell, but that's another conversation. Let's just say that Zach won't be mocking us LIVE for quite a while... if ever! However, redemptively speaking, Zach hits this episode out of the park for bivocational pastors and church planters. He'v living it - in REAL LIFE - in Sioux Falls, SD, a town of just over 150K. He and his wife pulled up stakes in Montana and moved to the east - South Dakota! You'll enjoy this convo with Zach on everything from finding time in the week to prep a message - to - not looking at Facebook on Monday mornings due to the Facebook bragging of too many pastors! Episode 173... our gift to YOU! Enjoy! Episode 172 - Preaching & Social Media When A Listener Crashes the 200churches Podcast Studio!5/7/2016
Pastor Scott Dalen, pastor of Underwood Lutheran Church, joined Jeff in the luxurious and opulent 200churches Podcast Studio! Scott stopped by on a Saturday and hijacked Jonny's chair and microphone in the studio - as he shamelessly auditioned for Jonny's spot on the podcast.
Yes, Jonny is a little upset, and told Scott to "watch your back!" So, we'll keep you posted on what happens... Scott talked about his preaching calendar, social media in ministry, how he first connected to the podcast, and his perspective on Jeff and Jonny's teamwork. We hope you enjoy this very fun episode with the colorful Scott Dalen, who is also a marked man (says Jonny!) |
